I had the chance this weekend to go to the Seattle Fantagraphics store and get a sneak preview of Hooked on Comix 3 by Filmmakers David P. Moore and Audry Mandelbaum. Hooked on Comix is a short series of movies that focus on individual authors in the independent and underground scene. Hook on Comix 3 features the lovely Dame Darcy and always-entertaining Tony Millionaire. I have this thing about Dame Darcy by the way, and Tony Millionaire was new to me, and worth discovering as a new author for me. I have not seen his work before, and yes I did go check out some of his other stuff because of the movie.
The nice part was that the Fantagraphics store let me run around with a video camera because the store rocks. I was also able to get a quick interview with David Moore. Warning up front, I am not a video camera person, and this was recorded on my Ipad 2 to go along with that. Interesting interview and look at the store. If you have the chance, you should go see the movie, it is worth it, and an interesting insight into underground authors.
